Bennet Franz studies public health and biology as a sophomore at Roanoke College, where he is active with Student Health and Wellness Peer Education and the Honors Program on campus. Bennet works as an academic coach for first year students, and volunteers with the Childhood Health Initiative Partnership. He has conducted research on college food insecurity on his own campus and is in the process of developing and implementing a program aimed at helping students overcome hunger. Driven by a passion for health equity, he hopes to devote his career to building healthier populations, especially in traditionally underserved communities. Following graduation, he aspires to earn a degree in medicine and pursue a career as a physician-public servant. Bennet calls Baton Rouge, Louisiana home, but has come to love the outdoors and community that he has found in Southwestern Virginia.
