Hadiyah Cummings is a rising senior at Howard University, majoring in Political Science and Criminology. Hadiyah is an active member of the University's Mock Trial team, placing 6th in the nation during her sophomore year. During the summer before her junior year, she interned abroad in Cape Town, South Africa, and studied social justice and activism. Her academic interest involves how restorative justice and decarceration policies can improve the legal system. Her passion for public policy and aspirations for reforming the legal system have led her to intern at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and Senator Kamala D. Harris. One of the biggest highlights of Hadiyah's collegial experience was attending the Harvard Kennedy School Public Policy and Leadership Conference. After graduation, Hadiyah plans to earn her Master's in Public Policy and Juris Doctorate. She ultimately aspires to become the Executive Director of the Arkansas Public Defense Commission.
