Mikaela Benton is a junior Honors Fellow at Elon University, double majoring in Political Science and Spanish. She works as a Facilities Assistant for Residence Life and is on the editorial board of the Pi Sigma Alpha Undergraduate Research Journal which Elon will be hosting in the fall. This past year she served as the Director of Special Events for the Black Student Union, and has also volunteered as a reading tutor for second grade students with The Village Project. Spring 2019 she studied abroad in the Dominican Republic, lived with a host family, and attended classes at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Spanish. She is currently working on a two year thesis evaluating the nature and effect of President Trump's targeted attacks on Minority Women in the House of Representatives. After college, she aspires to pursue a master's degree in International Affairs and to join the Foreign Service as a Foreign Service Officer. She is a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient and calls Woodbridge, VA home.
