Veronica Backer-Peral is a student at Loyola Marymount University, pursuing a triple major in History, Computer Science, and Film Production, and a recipient of the prestigious Trustee Scholarship. Her passion for interdisciplinary study has led to the development of multiple research projects such as her ongoing public-health research commitment with the Clinton Global Initiative. She has also received Second Place in the Humanities and was selected to be a plenary speaker at the 2019 and 2020 Harvard National Collegiate Conference, respectively, for her research with the history department. Veronica is also an active part of LMU's newspaper, the LA Loyolan, where she is the Asst. Opinion Editor and a correspondent for the Election 2020 video politics team, through which she has interviewed several prominent political figures and produced award winning videos. Most recently, Veronica began to work at LMU's Global Policy Institute where she has hosted a number of diplomats and political scientists to speak at LMU. After graduation, Veronica hopes to continue to expand her knowledge by pursuing a JD/PhD in Economics and using this expertise to serve as an advisor and analyst on Capitol Hill. She is from Altadena, California.
