Isha Yardi is a rising junior public health science major at the University of Maryland College Park in the Gemstone Honors Program. Isha is passionate about social epidemiology and the application of translational research to improving health policy outcomes. She currently assists with clinical research at the University of Maryland Medical Center and is a member of Big Data 4 Health Equity, a national research collaborative that leverages big data sources such as Twitter in exploring the social determinants of health. On campus, she is active with UMD's Do Good Institute, a former Rawlings Undergraduate Leadership Fellow, and the Chief Communications Officer of an international undergraduate research journal. Isha has also pursued internship opportunities with elected officials and non-profit organizations to better understand the practical applications of her interests at the intersection of policy and medicine. Isha hopes to pursue a career as physician-public servant, using her background in research to improve health outcomes in underserved communities. In her free time, Isha enjoys rock climbing, longboarding, and traveling with her family.
