Raziya Hillery is a rising senior triple majoring in political science, international studies, and Spanish at Butler University. In her liberal arts academic tenure, she has researched the effects of international policies on marginalized communities, and she is currently preparing pedagogical research with a former Butler professor. Outside of class, Raziya has served as an executive board member on Butler's Black Student Union, Leading Women of Tomorrow, and Delight College Ministries chapters. Her fervor for public service grew as she worked with Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigrant Services, the Office of the Indianapolis Mayor, and two local political campaigns across the United States. When studying abroad, she additionally interned with the Fulbright Association in Madrid, Spain. This summer, Raziya will continue exploring options in public service and international affairs as a 2021 Rangel Scholar. Raziya is excited to analyze the relationship between international political institutions, policymaking, and their impact on marginalized communities. In the future, she will pursue a postgraduate degree (MA) and a public service career in foreign affairs. Raziya proudly calls Indianapolis, Indiana her home.
