Cecilia Espinosa is a first-generation college student and rising junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign studying Political Science and Communications with minors in Spanish and Business. She works for the University of Illinois Foundation that is the non-profit entity responsible for raising money for the college system. She is also an intern for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences where she teaches and mentors a class of incoming students in order to provide knowledge on campus resources. Her involvement on campus includes the James Scholars Honors Program, Student Alumni Ambassadors, Students Consulting for Non-Profit Organizations, Association of Latino Professionals for America, Illinois Consulting Academy, Pre-Law Honors Society and an Ambassador for La Casa Latinx Cultural House. She has conducted research through her educational career centered on various social, environmental, and economic issues that she is passionate about. She intends to study abroad in Spain in the upcoming year to utilize her fluency in Spanish and expand her global knowledge of governments and cultures. Cecilia is an incoming Summer Congressional Intern for the Victory Congressional Institute where she will work in Washington D.C. on Capitol Hill. After graduation, she intends to earn dual JD/MPA degrees and hopes to work as an attorney or in public sector consulting in the future.
