Phi Beta Kappa Recognizes Six Outstanding Chapters at 46th Triennial Council

WASHINGTON, DC, August 4, 2021 — As part of its 46th Triennial Council, the Phi Beta Kappa Society recognized six outstanding chapters – Hofstra University, Pomona College, St. Joseph’s University, St. Michael’s College, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and University of California – Irvine. The awards, presented once every three years, are accompanied by a small monetary prize to help the winners further the chapter’s work to recognize excelling students and represent the liberal arts on their campuses.  

Recipients of Outstanding Chapter Awards demonstrate extraordinary accomplishment over the course of the Triennium in key areas like student outreach and chapter visibility. Especially with COVID-19, each of these chapters also excelled at adapting to challenges of inviting and inducting students in a virtual environment.
