• 19 Saturday, Oct Bona Thompson Center Walking Tour with ΦΒΚ - Indiana Key Connections

The Indiana Association invites Phi Beta Kappa members to join them on Saturday, October 19 for a walking tour of the historic neighborhood of Irvington in Indianapolis, IN. This is a great opportunity for new members to learn more about the local association as well as the local history.

The tour will be led by Sampson Levingston, an Indiana native who has earned national attention for his Walk & Talks, casual strolls through history-laden areas of Indianapolis and other towns and cities in the state. The walking tour will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Bona Thompson Center (Irvington Historical Society), 5350 University Avenue, and end at 3:30 p.m..
Founded in 1870, the Irvington community was the original location of Butler University (1875-1928) and is currently the largest National Register Historic District in Marion County, Indiana. Influenced by the Romantic planning tradition, the neighborhood was designed with curving streets to follow the natural topography of the site and open spaces.

After the walking tour, guests are invited to gathering at a Jockamo's Pizza, 5646 E. Washington St. in Irvington, to enjoy informal conversation and drinks and heavy snacks.

Registration for this event is free and covers the cost of the tour and complimentary shared appetizers/pizza and beverages afterward. Guests are welcome.

Please register by Monday, October 14 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern.
